Hibiscus is a tropical annual cultivated widely in warm climates. The bright red calyces are harvested after flowering and dried.

They contain organic acids, anthocyanins, and flavonoids, giving hibiscus its tart flavour and deep colour.

Actions: Cooling, antioxidant, mildly diuretic
Indications: Thirst, gentle circulatory and metabolic support
Safety: Generally very safe; may slightly lower blood pressure.
